x402 Protocol Headers

Header Compatibility

AXON handles multiple header formats for broad x402 compatibility: Challenge read order:
  1. X-PAYMENT-REQUIREMENTS
  2. PAYMENT-REQUIRED
  3. WWW-Authenticate
Settlement request headers sent:
  • X-PAYMENT
  • PAYMENT-SIGNATURE
Receipt read order:
  1. X-PAYMENT-RESPONSE
  2. PAYMENT-RESPONSE

EIP-3009 Settlement

AXON signs payments using EIP-3009 TransferWithAuthorization. This allows gasless USDC transfers where:
  1. AXON signs an authorization off-chain
  2. The x402 facilitator submits the transaction on-chain
  3. USDC transfers from the agent pocket to the provider
